This is an original song for the ladies. Movement of Life
Here is my rendition of Ritchie Valens's "We Belong Together"
by Adrian Roman
Tall Bear is a song about an Indian boy growing up during the 1950’s in Oklahoma. Angered by widespread prejudice he is forced to fight for survival and wounded pride. Tall Bear speaks to and for thousands of Indian children who faced and managed to overcome similar problems.
Stirred by a vision and vivid imagination he invents an invincible warrior named Tall Bear. Tall Bear is cocky - assertive with an attitude. He is ready to fight anyone at the drop of a hat and WIN.
When the B.I.A. (Bureau of Indian Affairs) Relocation Program promises the family a new and wonderful life in a faraway city, the young Indian teenager is reluctant to leave his homeland. In an alien city the family unit is fragmented and divided; some members are plagued by alcoholism. Without roots the teen struggles in the multi-ethnic melting pot.
Eventually he experiences success thru martial arts and music; in the process his heart is mended. He begins to listen more closely to his elders rediscovering his Native American heritage and culture. After many years he becomes a leader of men.
Following the vision of his youth he is transformed from boy to Tall Bear and then the Eagle.
Tall Bear Lyric by Adrian Roman Key Am
Arrangement by Pat Wick & Ronnie Ray
Born in what seemed the wrong time and place,
I grew angry when others, trashed my race
Searching for identity and friends who’d care
I envisioned the Native warrior, Tall Bear.
He’s a mighty warrior / brave and strong
Few could challenge / most who did were wrong
Badly advised they’d foolishly risk
The thunder and lightening in his fists
(Release)
Friends were few and silent / at the door was the B.I.A.
Threatening Choctaws lives / we had to leave that day
They tried to steal 0ur thunder / mistreated and harassed
We was forced to leave our homeland / Torn from a noble past
Short Turn Around:
Tall Bear knew I needed / to mend inside
For me to search beyond avenging pride
My Medicine man danced / Falammichi
He restored my spirit, and power-Hear ME
When the young man’s ready, let the elder teach
Many winters pass, the warrior becomes a Chief
He didn’t have to say it, still I believe
Tall Bear can relate, he’d been like me
(Chorus)
There's a fire burning / raging out of control
Trouble all around/ you better search your soul
Falammichi, Falammichi
What a man can't know / the Eagle sees
Solo break
(Chorus)
There's a fire burning / raging out of control
Trouble all around/ you better search your soul
Falammichi, Falammichi
What a man can't know / the Eagle sees
Falammichi, Falammichi
What a man can't know / the Eagle sees
Vamp out
Gonna tell my story, before I die
Tell the world the White man /all he does is lie
I’m the Chief and elder and I speak the truth
Gonna tell my story, before I die
Gonna look the White man Square in the eye
I’m the Chief and elder and I speak the truth
Falamichi, Falamichi Falammichi
What a man can't know/ the Eagle sees (Repete, fade)
